Rarely seen and extremely unique, the extraordinary Nagamaki will be the focal point of any collection. The Nagamaki, literally means Long Wrap, was used by extremely strong infantry and foot soldiers for use against mounted cavalry riders in feudal Japan. With a long blade and extremely long handle, this sword could generate enough force to cut through heavy targets with ease.
The blade is hand forged carbon steel with a full length Bo-hi. The tsuka is wrapped with black cotton ito over real white samegawa on the ends. The center portion is flat braided with red ito with traditional Musashi style tsuba matching the tsuka. There are four antiqued dragon menuki total and the fuchi and kashira are made of steel. The saya scabbard is black lacquered with with gold engraved kanji and a double rings design.
To make sure our Nagamaki is fully functional the nakago(tang) is an astonishing 25 1/2 inches.
